Okanoggin Barbers Ltd. is sponsoring a fundraiser to support Wills Hodgkinson, 10, who is battling cancer for the third time. The barber team will donate their day’s pay on Saturday, Feb. 27 and at the end of the day, will hold a raffle draw with proceeds going to Hodgkinson and his family, according to the barber shop s press release. “We decided to do this because we believe we have an avenue and relationship with our community to bring people together to help someone who so deserves it,” says Peter Beauchamp, owner of Okanoggin Barbers, in the press release. “We are strong believers of community supporting community and this one does that so very well.”

India shipped 5,00,000 doses of its Covid-19 vaccine to Afghanistan, becoming the first country to provide Kabul with the coronavirus vaccine,
Arab News reported.
Dastargir Nazari, a Health Ministry spokesman, told
Arab News on Sunday: “Fortunately, we are going to receive 500,000 doses of the vaccine today.”
Kabul has decided to roll out Bharat Biotech’s Covishield jab the local name for the Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccine developed in the UK from next week, after securing certification from the World Health Organization.
Masooma Jafari, another spokesman for the ministry, revealed that the front line workers in the country will be the first to get inoculated, followed by school teachers, prisoners, security forces, and the elderly.

The state is expanding its telephone vaccine appointment system to seven days a week and adding another 125 people to answer them in anticipation of the next wave of residents eligible for the COVID-19 vaccine.
In a news release Friday, the state Department of Public Health announced that the phones will be open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. starting Monday. With the additional staff, the service can book up to 10,000 appointments per week at 12 locations.
The phone number to call for vaccination scheduling is (877) 918-2224. DPH is partnering with the United Way of Connecticut, which operates the Vaccine Appointment Assist Line.
